News or Fluff?

Blog Posted:10/26/2010 6:18:00 AM

Is it really necessary

To have more than one anchorman

narrate and coordinate a

daily, nightly newscast program?

Only one person can speak at

a time, so why has it become

an essential public display

they now commonly call a show

instead of a newscast program

where the news is supposed to be

first and foremost, not some hamming

wannabee, on cue, displaying

poorly, I might add, his or hers

self-image and self-importance.

I can never understand how newscasters can go from reporting on a terribly sad story to telling a joke?? Must be their "professionalism" that allows them to be so flippant or maybe they've become numb? Audrey

No one will ever replace Cronkite for me. The news has become too much of a "show" for me as well. Good point made, Albert. Love, Carolyn

Deb, This Times New Roman font should make it better to read. I'll try to keep this in mind when writing future blogs.

Edward Roscoe Murrow, Walter Cronkite and John Facenda were all responsible for high network ratings based solely on their ability to present the news and not once did either of them dress in drag to achieve it.
