Christian Writers
Blog Posted:3/15/2013 7:03:00 AM

Just stopping by to say I have found two good sites for submitting Christian Poetry. I know we have a lot of writers here interested in this.

Weavings
weavings@upperroom.org

http://weavings.upperroom.org/weavings-themes/

Weavings provides a space where questions posed by contemporary life and spiritual resources of Christian heritage can encounter and illuminate one another. It strives to create a forum in which contributors and readers can converse on important matters of common concern. Published quarterly and organized by themes each issue presents articles, stories, (fiction and non-fiction), meditations on scripture, sermons, prayers, and poetry dealing with:

• significant topics in Christian spirituality visible in personal, congregational, and public life;
• practicing spiritual disciplines;
• the role of non-discursive communication in spiritual formation (e.g. art, music, architecture, dance);
• linking individual and corporate renewal in the church;
• relating personal and social transformation;
• integrating contemporary experience and classical wisdom.

Call for Submissions (Updated 3/1/13)Ancient Paths is NOT currently
considering submissions for the print anthology Stand in the Ways or for the printed Ancient Paths literary magazine.

However, submission are currently being accepted for Ancient Paths Online. Ancient Paths Online seeks poetry, flash fiction, and short stories for electronic publication.
To get a better idea of the types of works we publish, see the selected literature on this website or, better yet,order a past printed issue of Ancient Paths.

"Like" Ancient Paths on Facebook to follow future submission needs.

Payment: Payment for online publication is one free copy of a past printed issue Ancient Paths #14. Published poets and authors will also receive a discount code for $3
off issue #16 and #17.

Rights: Poets and authors grant Ancient Paths electronic rights, and you are free to republish your work elsewhere.

How to Submit: E-mail all submissions to skylarburris at yahoo dot com (replacing the @ and .). Please paste poems and flash fiction directly in your e-mail message but attach short stories as a Word document.

Important: Use the subject heading "AP Online Submission (poetry, flash fiction, or story)." Include your name, e-mail address, and regular mailing address at the top of your e-mail. Simultaneous submissions and previously published works (provided they are not currently available online) are welcome.  Please indicate if your work has been published elsewhere.

Theme: All works should have a spiritual theme. The theme may be explicitly Christian
or broadly religious. Works published in Ancient Paths explore themes such as edemption, sin, forgiveness, doubt, faith, gratitude for the ordinary blessings of life, spiritual struggle, and spiritual growth. Please, no overly didactic works. Subtlety is preferred.

Poetry: Send poetry of up to 40 lines. Selected poetry will be published on the Facebook
page
. Poems may be rhymed or unrhymed, free verse or formal.

Flash Fiction: Send flash fiction of up to 500 words. Flash fiction will appear on the Facebook page.

Why not give it a try?

    Thanks for the info., Debbie. I think it is awesome that so many different religions and countries get along pretty well here on the soup, because I have seen what it can escalate to and it is not pretty.

    Debbie, this is awesome of you. If only the Christians would start thinking, speaking and acting Christian then maybe we (Christians) wouldn't look like such arses to other faiths. I once had a Christian on the site soupie me, "I HATE HER." Ummm...? Hello??? .... Hate??? .... I shook my head, thought, Man, you really need to reread the Good News cause you aren't getting the point. LOL. Sis, whenever I think of what Christian SHOULD mean I think of a gal who drove 5 hours out of her way to help someone who verbally attacked her, reckless with love and compassion. Faith or no, He'll high five you... hope you know this is with love. xox Dee

    I think you should Chris why not, I can write Christian verse. And really I am sure they would like it if we heathens studied up on Christian doctrine, who knows it might bring us aound to this way of thinking, "One never knows do one?" the immortal words of the great Fats Waller

    Maybe I should try incognito, as an experiment of sorts? Do they ask for verification of faith? I think Jesus is a cool dude though. Definitely a true Christian, that's for sure. I think in a past life, Jesus and I consumed copious amounts of magic mushrooms somewhere along the northern border of wot is now modern India. He kept telling me how I talk too much, was interrupting him, ruining the trip, so we both stopped trying to over-ride each other, stopped talking and had a fantastic time communicating telepathically, instead. We eventually made it to a Buddhist Monastery in southern Nepal, and stayed there for about 2 months. The monks had a "dry" policy, so we had to keep our mushroom trips in check as best as possible. It was very difficult not to giggle sometimes and blow our cover. One of the monks kept suspiciously asking us why our pupils were so dilated, and we kept explaining it must be because we weren't used to the high altitude yet.

    :D Hey, nothing wrong with following. I follow Buddha and I'm trying to read the Qur'an. I think JC would read everything he could get his hands on... I also think he may be listening, I mean REALLY listening to Lennon right now, telling him Imagine is his kinda tune. But I'm weird that way.
