Hi everyone, I am home but recovered enough to write much yet. I stayed off line and NOT writing for 11 days! WOW It wasn't easy since out of 15 folks 3 carried notebooks and every hotel had internet hookup BUT it was LOOK or HOOK. I decided to BE in Peru and not online when I was in Peru! Below is a small segment of the type of stairs you had to climb to get to the Temple of the Siun in Machu Piccu.

There seems to be almost NO level ground in Peru!

Pisac, Peru, 2012

From the mountain's peak, the wooden flute sounds
the lamas leap and the water falls clear
mindful, the winds play on the Quechua's ground

The majesty of the Andes astounds
for from behind the clouds, the peaks reappear.
From the mountain's peak, the wooden flute sounds

Like great red-clay dunes or snow capped mounds
courts rise and fall in terrain, so austere ...
mindful, the winds play on the Quechua's ground

Rainbows of red, blue, and gold oft surround
distant ruins of gray stones now severe.
From the mountain's peak, the wooden flute sounds

Solid, earth-bound, sun-browned, lost to the hounds
so Quechua shepherds bound stairs cavalier
mindful, the winds play on the Quechua's ground

Pachamama's love surrounds without bounds
long gone are the conquer's all life is here,
from the mountain's peak, the wooden flute sounds
mindful, the winds play on the Quechua's ground

Did ya miss me? Huh? HUH?

Looking forward to more of your beautiful poetry as inspired by Machu Picchu. I will be in Cuenca soon and eagerly await the inspiration offered by that colonial city and the nearby Andes. Glad you had the experience and are home safe and sound.

Thanks Sue! As to both of you and the stairs [and stairs and stairs!!!!] the only think you could see without falling off the mountains was YOUR FOOT!!!! LOL..12,300 feet above sea level was our first hike!!!! the only way to safely look with your back crammed against the nearest wall was to STOP...I'd did yoga breathing and did get my oxygen up and the old ticker didn't do too bad [a bit fast though!]

Welcome home! Can't wait to hear DETAILS! I have a 'deep' fear of heights -- even tobogganing with my girl nearly sent me into shock and it was only a gentle slope. Those stairs would FREAK ME OUT. I can picture it, the guy behind me, nudging me, saying, "Lady, for the love of Mike, move your arse." and me saying, "Would really like to do that. Yup. Sorry. This train has derailed!" Fun? Incredible? Life changing? Would have preferred staying home with a happy cat? WHAT? WHAT? SPILL! Blog tease! LOL... Verity had a fever on Christmas, now has a bad cold and I can barely move between rooms. I managed to see a movie last night with hubby (bad but funny) that could be my current life on film :P

Took me some time, but managed to find the problem and empty my browser cache, check my settings and voila, I'm back to being able to comment on blogs. Messy, slow business though. Missed you!!!!

Welcome back, Debbie. Wow! I think that I will give Peru a miss - I have a phobia about stairs: I can go UP stairs, but I cannot go down again. I sit and slide down: most unbecoming. Complements of the Season to you :-)
