Life is an infinite continuum, feeding on its own death. Our mortality, real and imagined, lives within. We can always see these truths with a discerning eye. The mirrored images that seem like two, are but one, a parallel universe whose paths cross like a wisp of wind, we are all of one time, like prose and poems written in separate centuries, but of the same struggle. There, always there, truth never hides, except for those who don’t seek it for fear of what they might find. From light to dark we fly in different directions though toward the same destination. What matters is what we do on our flight. Do we see the paths of leaves as they float on the pond, the reflection of the sky beyond, and the trees, who have now shed their leaves but will reflect full in the spring; beneath the leaves, the roots of the lily pads and the stare of a wary carp who looks from his world as we do from ours? We must find time on our journey to read, play a game, or simply sit and wonder at the marvels around us, for death will come in its own time…

Is any other contest writer having issues with editing in the all poems stage. I used to do it all the time but now it won't allow me to. If I make a mistake and check I've read instead of move to round 2 it won't let me correct that.

It is fixed, thanks TPS so you can go to all poems and move them if you want now

Andrea, when I judge I don't use the all poems page to judge. BUT, as long as the poet has followed some guideline and/or I feel the write is worthy of a HM, even if it broke every rule (too good a poem to ignore) then I move it all to the third round .... I do almost 95% of my judging in the third round ... NONE in the second. I like the format better, readability. As I make notes, study, reread poems over and over, I change placements... sometimes a dozen times. Now, once or twice, I have missed a poem because of how I do this (thought I'd moved it over and DIDN/T) so I use the edit all to get it over to the third round. I have used it for this purpose... hmm.. maybe twice? It is handy!

I take a long time for the process too, Cyndi, I just need to figure out what you guys are talking about in that final column!! Of course, I too do most of my judging in the third round. when you say third round, you are not talking about that editing column then, are you? Usually the poets who pay attention to details are my favorites. it's rare that I find one that amazes me which also has a lot of technical problems. You can bypass second round then?? I thought Soup made that impossible to do.

craig, I went to that Edit section you are talking about just now, to see what you are using it for. it brings up server error, a big yellow page of scribbles!!!

Deb's what are you talking about? Am I on a different system than you and Craig??
  1. Date: 7/13/2014 3:24:00 PM
Craig, you never do anything over at the page that says ALL poem. That final column, right? They told us never to work in that one. I am always ok if I just start with Round one from the very beginning, moving everyone except the really bad ones who did not follow rules at all. Then I narrow down from round two.

No, it's not editing the poem because you can not--it is editing your decision and moving on

also, I heard several months ago never to move from the last column to round two. It's in my mind that we always were to start with round one, no matter what. What am I missing?

what do you mean edit, though? Why would I be editing anyone's poem. That is for them to do, not me. I never got why they had that page for us. I like to just do short poetry contests and print everything out!!

Not true Andrea--You can't judge from that page but you were always able to edit and move to page 2--I've done it since I came
