Gone Fishin' Contest

Blog Posted:2/19/2014 8:36:00 AM
I started a new contest yesterday. You can see the details on the contest page. I've received one poem so far, and a very good poem at that. Sadly, it has nothing to do with fishing so I can't move it on. Gotta be about fishing people. And like I said on the contest page, if you don't have a good fishing story, make one up...or stretch the truth on one you DO have...fishing tales are meant to be stretched a bit...;)

OH! OH! You wound me up... And you know how my stories go... I'll give you a real whopper of a 'Gone Fishing" story... I dare you to place... or even print it! This should be cool! It should be good to tell while sitting around the camp fire!

So can it be figurative, like Jesus was a fisherman of men? That kind of thing?

Okay Caleb; we never actually figured out what kind of fish she caught swimming between flooded sister ponds...so how do I show you the picture so you can tell me? All I know is my husband wears a 12 shoe and they were almost the size of two of his shoes in front of each other. We pulled over and she took her sweater off and started grabbing them with her sweater...most mothers wouldn't have been to fond of that but I was proud as could be! lol If I didn't have to keep watch for gators I probably would have kicked my heels off and helped!

I don't need to stretch my fishing tales, Boy. Heck, I've been fishing for several centuries now. There's nowhere I haven't fished, why, I've even fished on the moon. One memory that stands out for me at the moment, is when I was living with the Norse just off Baffin Island. They had travelled over from Greenland. This was around 1020AD, and I was still a whipper-snapper. Anyway, Thor Hammmerstein harpoons this sperm whale, has some trouble bringing it in(a land-fixed harpoon). He was always boasting about how strong he was, so I decided to show him up. I walk over, grap the line, give it a few wriggles, and use the sperm whale as bait to catch a blue whale. You should have seen Thor's face!

Well...I have pictures of one of my girls catching large fish by hand after one of the hurricanes flooded some of the areas here a few years ago; but that's about all I know on the subject. Going to have to consult with the hubby on this one ;)

Yeah, Baby! LOL! Nothing like fresh trout, pan fried over open flame. Gimme time, but I'm on that! I'm focused on my novel right now-- and will be for months to come. But I think you're contest has "baited" me into one more poem... (hardy har! HA!) Hugs to you, the Mrs and your wee ones. Cyndi
