One movie stands out in my head as my very favorite that was an underdog to win the Oscars. It was American Beauty. What a powerful movie~~As for actors, far too many to even name!

He was terrifying...Jack Nicholas in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Shining and As Good as It Gets...Debra Winger in Terms of Endearment...I could go on and on...

Just saw "Captain Phillips" this past weekend, and the last scene Tom Hanks in sick-bay..... that too has Oscar written all over it !! Denzel Washington's face alone, watching Hanks listening to opera in "Philadelphia"......should have won a nomination......no dialog necessary.....it was written all over his face.......that is acting!

Charma - I like this picture of you better than the one with sunglasses...Why hide those beautiful brown eyes?

Frank - What I liked about Cate in The Fellowship was the way they showed the Hobbit's ugly feet coming down one stair then Cate's on the opposite stair...Perfect contrast...It don't get more erotic than that (I got a thing about feet anyway)

What about Cate Blanchett in "The Aviator" portraying Katharine Hepburn (another amazing actress), or Helen Mirren in "The Queen" ... or Catherine Deneuve in "Belle de Jour" ... or the only one: Meryl Streep (in any movie LOL) ...

KATE BLANCHETT's PORCELAIN Skin...eyes and cheekbones are flawless. A quiet Beauty...and versatile actress.

I am SERIOUSLY in love with Cate Blanchett. She showed her versatility in a movie called 'The Gift' about a back-woods Georgia widow and I'll NEVER forget those sexy feet in 'The Fellowship of the Ring

Two months ago I watched " Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf" (for firs time) and I was quite impressed, Elizabeth Taylor gives the performance of her life. I didn't know that she was such a great-great actress (I've watched only a couple of her movies, like Cleopatra which disappointed me). Vivian Leigh? I watched "Gone with the wind" ... her acting is horrible! : ) I didn't like the movie either. Yes, I might be the only one.

Liz was good in 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' too, another Tenessee Williams play turned movie but Burl Ives blew them all away as Big Daddy...
Ryerson Avatar Tim Ryerson Date: 10/16/2013 11:09:00 AM Block poet from commenting on your poetry

Agreed Ruben...Her acting was phony in Gone with the Wind and I wasn't crazy about the movie either (The book was better) Her role in Streetcar was when she was older and the part fitted her perfectly. Ann-Margret was even better in the TV version...
  1. Date: 10/16/2013 10:42:00 AM
By the way, Ann-Margret also gave a stunning performance in the TV version of 'Streetcar'...When her charactar goes insane she had this wild-eyed, desperate look in her eyes which I'll never forget. I don't know how she did that...
