I have changed the closing date to 11 May to allow poets more time to submit their poems.
Thank you to those poets who had complied with the original topic of Paradise Lost.
Regrettably, poems which were written on a different topic, cannot be considered for Glory, but if the ROUNDEL poem has merit, I will include it in the HM.
Think of a theme where the first part of the first sentence makes sense if repeated throughout the poem - the "hub" of the poem.
Then write down rhyming words with the last word of this "roundel" - pure rhyme (not slant rhyme) is preferable.
Then complete the first line of your poem, keeping in mind the overall theme which had come to light with the above test.
Write down a string of pure rhymes for the last word of the first line.
You now have a framework for your roundel.
Please see the contest page for full details regarding this very interesting poetry form.
Yes, it is a challenge, but I am fully confident that the poets of PoetrySoup are competent to pull this one off successfully.
