I have been a member of Poetry soup since 2011.

Though my forte is fiction, verse has always appealed to me. There is nothing like a play of words to rattle the ordinary, to tickle away the dust of stagnation. My favourite form is the contemporary sonnet, but I also enjoy free verse. Also, I love the zen experience of haiku, its seizure of a moment, how it can hold a universe in so few syllables. And I admit to a fondness for the Rondeau.

My life is simple, but busy. I’m a writer and stay at home mother. Days are full.

Currently, I am working on a novel or ... ha ha... should I really say that the novel is working on me? Characters! They have a way of turning a world upside down.

There are some amazing poets on the soup. I am blessed to call many my friends ~~ Cyndi

LOST SOULS

Written Sept 2000
By Yours Truly

(I used to troll MSN communities, back in the day, and was a member of Vice of Verses... anyone else out there? LOL!)

Through snake slit eyes
She accuses the masses
Pleading contempt,
a sad expectation,
Somewhat crispy.

They scurry by
Hurry, hurry, hurry,

Don’t look, Dear.
Hush, hush, don’t point!

Angry hair,
broken by bleach and hope,
Prickles like a pale cactus.

The girl with the stained lips
Smells like a battle lost
And she wiggles thin hips.

Spindle heels announce her ambitions,
Free from inhibitions, constrictions,
Tall above distaste and judgement.

A splinter skirt of smudged leather
Maps her world of power games.
We’re not the same,
But we are not really that different,
This lost soul and I,
Crying under it all...

A bullet of gum snaps her agreement
As I meet her mocking gaze
And nod.

STINKY STANKY STUNK!

Thank you.

I'm here every Tuesday, leave a nickle in the paper cup, please.

HA!

STINK BOMBS WELCOME!! HURL AWAY!!!

I titled this: Walk Over Whichever way you passed/ Stainless, Frying pan, pot, mug or jug/ Whichever language you understand/ Trebble, riddle, science, linguistic or oral/ Whatever talents you have/ singing, dancing, reading, eavesdropping/ Mocking and gambling is also a talent (lol)/ Whatever occupation you earn with/ A sailor, a cobbler, a carpenter, a midwife.../ Just name yours/ You are not a mockery/ What ever gut you have/ You have to strip low/ unless you want to dare/ an automatic walkover/..... Kind of silly not... Perhaps, you won.

I'm getting seriously worried about my taste in poetry - I've liked all the poems that people say are awful! lol I've got some terrible ones right here on the site - 'my nonsensical dream' and 'english country boil' to name just two - and amazingly they were rated 7 by readers! there's just no accounting for taste haha I think we should have a contest for the worst poem on the soup :)

Ah, Virgine! Hey, did you know there is a contest for the worst first line in a novel? We should do that here. INTENTIONALLY write trash, make it so skunky that we make the reader laugh til they shart. I can't remember the name of that contest.. famous... hmmm...

Get outa town! LOL! Its slop! This was one I just pulled from a file, but, dude, c'mon, its trite, junior high stuff (awk in my thirties, at the time??) "Hurrry, hurry, hurry"?!! Man, it sucks. LOL. Sak Vid... must read and then at 9:30 I'm stumbling to bed! HUGS
  1. Date: 4/23/2013 7:15:00 PM
Is this all you've got for us? Although the second stanza has merits, it has not reached its full potential (LOL!). No, my dear Cyndi, this poem cannot compite with "Sak Vid Pa Kanpe" ... Im sorry! : D
