I have not seen The Master yet; maybe next week. Joaquin Phoenix is a great actor; he will win an Oscar sooner or later.

Hullo, Frank. I am behind on the overall movie scene. You gave "The Master" a glowing and insightful review; I want to watch it now for sure. Joaquin Phoenix is the type of actor who seems to just miss-out on Academy Awards. I respect his acting a lot and would love to see him win an Oscar or two. Have you seen "Reservation Road" starring Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly? Joaquin's acting in that movie was stellar! I am not sure sometimes if the 'average' movie buff truly sees all of the subtle nuances that Joaquin Phoenix adds to his characters. I feel for wot happened to Joaquin's brother, and was happy when Joaquin took the extra step with in-character-development/method acting, taking his career to the next level.

Hmm, if, to reiterate, any of us could answer your query we would also be the first in history and as you have so masterfully alluded in this thought provoking blog---it becomes a painting of a painting of a painting---and one that will be asked and "answered" to infinity, yet still I futily try.
