"whiteness" contest update
Blog Posted:10/6/2012 9:50:00 PM

Hi Guys, just a little update on the contest.
Some really nice writes. Of the 23 entries so far,
10 have made it to the second round.                                                                     There's still plenty of room for more entries...
don't be afraid...take your time...be fearless.
Any form... this is an anonymous contest
so please don't put your name on your entries.
And remember top prize is a book of poetry
(iv'e pretty much made up my mind on what book it will be),
and It's spectacular!
Any questions about the contest, please ask.
Thanks again to those who've entered the contest so far.
looking forward to reading more.

Anthony

You have given yourself a very hard task :) in judging it is easiest to judge if everyone uses the same form [apples to apples] I almost never require only 1 form BUT it is easier to judge. If you have 3 different verses in 3 different forms for each poet wowser! That's alot of thinking for you! I too like the idea of doing this BUT...just out of curiosity if 2 are GREAT and 1 stinks how will you judge that against a person who wrote 1 GREAt poem?

Hi Debbie, you raise some good points. my criteria for moving a poem into the second round is that if it turns my nervous system into a fountain of rainbows then it moves on...or something like that. I don't like to box in the thought process with to many rules.. a.k.a. one particular style. All poems will be judged individually, simply stated every great poem(or what i percieve as being a great poem) will make it to the podium...the stinky ones will be cannibalized by the great ones. I am beginning to see that this will be difficult task...especially deciding wich ones make it to the third round. By the way, what are your thoughts on how many poems should make it to the winner's circle? I was thinking maybe 10-15% of however many entries there were. good questions and best of skill in the contest. Anthony contest

I just saw you tell Shaz "you can enter UP to three poems" I had believed that we HAD to enter three. I did see someone do only one poem which was very good, so that means they were ok? I hope so!!

Hi Andrea, you can enter from one to three poems, just put them on one page. The idea behind that is that sometimes you have more than one poem that you'd like to enter on a particular topic. It should be noted that if you enter more than one poem, they will not be judged as a group but will be judged individually. Thanks and good luck Anthony
