Scribe, i agree with you,,, I'm not much of a writer. but, when I write i hate it.I wish i could tone it down a bit. Honestly I do try to write about rainbows and flowers.. But, i can not get into that pretty zone.. My stuff is to dramatic. Everything in me is an open Dramatic monologue. I think i should take classes from great poets from the soup. BY the way, i love your poetry.. But, you know that. I wish one day to host a contest with you. I know you will never ask now, cause you are subtracting yourself from the fun, because your expectations are else where... anyways love your blog..xox~pd

I have not had the opportunity to spend alot of time with you as I have been away from the site for awhile, however I always hate to see people leave. I am interested, How did you compose music from a metronome, I used one when playing the piano and you have me intrigued. Lee

One of the thiongs I like about soup is reading the other poets, challenging mhyself to write better than I have before. I hope you are able to find that voice you feel inside and express it. In turn, you may inspire someone else to become better.

Dr. Marlon Linton Bradley, I am SO digging this blog of yours! There are a handful of writers on and off this site, who continuously awe me with their much so, that it is all I can do to even scratch the surface of their poetic integrity. Over and over again, they cause me to re-evaluate myself, showing me wot an amateur I am, and how much further I want to go. One of the tricks in life is to never settle for mediocracy; not to become complacent. The contests are fine and dandy for helping people break the illusion of writer's block, or a little bit of extra muse on the side(the contests helped me to try out new forms and themes), but really, the purest muse is your life; not someone else's expectations or parameters....transcend the parameters! Screw the parameters! When existing within someone else's parameters, the purest version of your muse will not be set free to grow up into its fullest potential.

My advise...Always write what you are most passionate about and the words will flow... Then revise... revise... revise... but don't lose the message. If you like a certain form... practice it in your mind at odd times during the day... your mind will begin to click in that way... The symbolism starts in the back ground, but with practice will come forward... until it's 2nd nature... Then revising will be less needed. PS. I like you the way you are...

I am so glad that you will post your poetry here on the soup. I know that we all have times where our poetry comes alive and times where we seem to have lost our inspiration and regain it when our mind has cleared. I look at so many talented people and think why can't I write like them, but in fact I am not them and I will write what I love and what comes from me. You sound like a very talented young man and the only thing I can play is the radio . Thanks for your lovely comments on my poetry and I will strive to get my poetry out there. love phyl

Scribe ~ where are you off too? I also have had these feelings that sometimes my poetry is not up to par. My own par! I have finally come to peace knowing I will never be able to write at a Pulitzer Prize level. Drats! But when my heart speaks, and it needs to be poured out on paper, all I can do is comply. That's what it's about. Without heart, only the strong survive, and I may not be that strong. I have written without heart before, but the poems seem flat to me, lacking. Are you still going to post your poetry as usual, and just step away from the contests? Don't want to lose touch with you, so don't go far. love and hugs, Catie :)
