Bukowski & Whitman

Written by: Joseph Granda-Padron

another rejection
another lost contest
another broken dream
another dead feeling

something in me
died
and i'm not sure
i want it back.

i have a library of laminated
rejection notices
and it
gets
bigger
&
BIGGER
every single god-damned
month.

maybe i'll take up
drinking as my new
found hobbie.

this poetry stuff...
fourteen years of it
three published books
i'm tired.

how the hell did
Bukowski
and
Whitman
live so long doing this?

i'm gonna go smoke
a cigarette
and
pray for cancer.
