No Hope in Sight

Written by: Terry Burns

Blistering hot, dry and bare,
buzzards circling round in the air
A man lie dying with no hope in sight
praying for water, praying for night
Finally darkness creeps through the land
the cool of the evening pulls the heat from the sand
The temperature drops all through the night
the man just barely clings to his life
Rocking his body, trying to stay warm,
hoping for rescue in the hours before dawn
As the morning sun rises into the air
the man lies still, with no longer a care
The buzzards move in with hopes of a feast
but a bullet lays low one of the beast
Salvation has come from over the hill
and saved the man’s life for today he lives still
