Clap and Whistle

Written by: Joe Flach

Whenever my daughter had a boyfriend
Come over to our house
I always made her wear her long pants
And a non-revealing blouse

I would let them watch TV
With a little privacy
But I would be sitting in the next room
Where they were always aware of me

Whenever it got to be too quiet
And what was going on I couldn’t tell
“Clap and whistle, clap and whistle”
Were the instructions I would yell

“Clap, to keep your hands to yourself
Whistle, to keep your lips apart”
I am sure every time I yelled this out
I gave them both a start

I know I embarrassed my daughter
But what is a Dad to do
I once was a teenage boy myself
And his thoughts I already knew
