Fighting In Existence

Written by: Gail Angel Doyle

Fighting In Existence Autumn leaves that once showed colors that enhanced Are now left into stages of browns Soon to be blown away like dust through a wind’s turbulence Laid to rest in their memory onto the ground Fighting in existence to never surrender Weakening by the days that have passed by Winter’s snow covering their last hope of splendor Burying them in a place where they will die Soon spring will show flowers blossomed in their space Showing off their elegant colors of splendor Another cycle of life has been magically replaced Each day bringing them closer to their last surrender Fighting in existence to live a little longer As their petals weaken against the passing of time Desperately hoping that the rain would make them stronger Only to find them wilted away under the sunshine
