Mercedes White Extended Version

Written by: Charlie Parker

The shadows cast a gray December
the mist of rain I've wished for dearly
with my eyes barely shut I still remember
within my dream my body lie weary,
this tale be told through admission of sin
I must admit I've dealt such hand
of all the places in this world I've been
I miss most this wonder land,
for when I lie my body to rest
Tis the mind that takes this forthright journey
through the woods and the waters I am the guest
in a place where the angels guard the wicked that hurt me,
I reach the docks so crooked and frail
as the calm of the water reflects in darkness
with the angel Marie we both set sail
towards this dream I know and forever harness,
The sails hold strong as the wind does blow
as I hold my angel within my arms
with a silence disrupted by the song of crows
aside Marie I'm far from harm
the midnight moon shares its light
as we near the end of the waters way
I share a kiss that turns darkness white
Knowing Marie my dear cannot stay
for I have reached this land as her my guide
and from here to there I go alone
the only rain fall from within my skies
as I continue closer to a place I know
All too well I fear some days
for the abstract mind does grow fonder
as I reminisce on rested plays
of all the scenes I've yet to wander
for within that stray I walk content
despite the common misadventure
for the end this path has a hand that's lent
towards the manor in which I'll enter,
So onward bound I march my cadence
with persistence proud beside me
with a passion so deep as my only payment
I tear the canvas that tries to hide me,
and there it was behind the trees
of the timbers that contained its light
the house of angels I knew I'd reach
the house the angels call Mercedes White,
oh the beauty how the heavens do cry
for the painted portrait behind its glass
for the halls that fill with the angel's sigh
and the fellow femme that gather in mass
a sight that cries these tears of joy
oh the wonders of such enchantment
filled in the minds of only dreaming boys
is such a place like White so candid
and now as I stand in front this Eden
I see with eyes how Gods must miss
their angels from heaven who are here this evening
to tell their tales through a whispered white kiss.
