Who am I Really

Written by: Eugene Harvey

Each day in the mirror I see
A reflection of some other me
Constantly looking back at me,

And I wonder I, myself and me
Who this person can possibly be
Standing there staring back at me,

Is it the person that I think I am
Or maybe the one that I really am
Or perhaps another I pretend to be,

Am I he who I know to be me?
Or someone else that I wish to be
A mere stranger to I, myself and me

Am I he who I myself cannot see?
Or someone else that I do not see
Whose face I am not privy to see

And I ask again who can this be
This image looking back at me
And suddenly I begin to really see

As I was at first quite blind you see
Yet this person who has puzzled me
Has now become much clearer to me

For this person before me that I see
Is the image of the one I cannot see
Whose hand is it was that created me.

And all at once I can now truly see
Who it is I was predestined to be
Happily smiling looking back at me
