As Raw As It Gets

Written by: Katie Pukash

As raw as it gets
I see her running,
Through a forest of
Backwash tidal wave canyons
And greenhouse welcomed paradise.
Her eyes left to the suckers
And organs left for the maggots
“Feast,” they said,
And they fed.

Growing sharply,
Her body now roots,
Her bones sunk in mud,
Out of her eyes came lilies
And dandelions afloat,
As if her gaze wanders
Mink and musk,
And burgundy dust.
Her bloodshed,
The grass is red,
Now camouflage by
Growing
This is as raw as it gets
And they fed.
