Poetry on My Poetry

Written by: Debra Squyres

Over the years emotions became my muse
Dealing with Wayne’s death was my mother’s bequeath
Putting a knack for writing poems to good use
I found light following these shadows of death
“Mother’s Empty Room” was the first poem I wrote
Looking back I see a lot of cliché quotes
Word’s shedding pain flowing from my finger tips
Now I’m able to write a few silly quips
