A Drunkard's woe

Written by: Jon A Cavanaugh

Can I see another's beer
And not thirst for one right here
Can I see a drunken man
And not drink more than he can

Can I make it to the door
Without falling on the floor
I've nothing left to get a cab
I've just enough to pay my tab

As I walk along the street
I can't stay steady on my feet
I'm so drunk I cannot see
I wish I had some company

I am drunk and so defenseless
Now I'm being beaten senseless
Now I've got a broken bone
And I am not yet halfway home

Parody of "On Another's Sorrow" by William Blake
