Sweet Demise

Written by: POETESS DARKLY

Father, I mourn not for the child you despise,
Your drunkenness or hurtful lies.
I mourn the father I wish I knew,

I envy the child with caring father,
When loving your kid was never a bother.
That tender side was just never you.

Father I mourn not for the abuse,
Using a traumatic childhood, your excuse.
Your absence a blessing in disguise,

I envy the loving father I never had,
The man I'd be proud to call dad.
Your death was a sweet demise.
