Wedged In

Written by: Jon A Cavanaugh

I wonder if this chartered plane
Will charge me double at the gate
And mark my ticket capital gain
For my additional weight

For every seat in every row
In every plane in every fleet
Is ever cramped - ever narrow
With no room for hind or feet

The passengers desperately try
To wedge their bodies in the stalls
And once locked in they hapless sigh
On intercom the captain calls

"Welcome aboard" the captain greets
"Fasten seat belts" flight will be rough
Fetus and I take up two seats
My seat belt is not long enough.
