Every time i raise my face
to stare at my ancestral land
the stench of void irritates my nose
i fear seeing the heaps
of ancient and recent graves.

every time i think of these places
the pale places i pass
my eyes soak in my tears
for no life breathes in it.
i shudder more than bliss for this place
for its emptiness wears out my soul.

i pity us and the next generation
for in digging foundations
of our future homes,
we will mine the bones of our own
that daily in dozens get soiled
i fear for this gloomy land.
