Brave Strong True

Written by: Erin Nash

On a coral cracked bench she sits
Watching ships dock on the limped swallowed sea,
Each blink was brave
Each blink was strong
Each blink was true
But where were you?

Through the outskirts of a humid city she walks
Catching delicate air while they all stare,
Each breath was brave
Each breath was strong
Each breath was true
But where were you?

In a room full of empty wallpaper she sits
Thinking about change thinking about love
Each thought was brave
Each thought was strong
Each thought was true
But where were you?

From a dream awoken I sit
I wake up glass eyed and confused
My tears were brave
My tears were strong
My tears were true
But where were you?

I asked God why he ignored the floodgates
The floodgates that were my tears
It was hopeless and I fear.
My fears were brave
My fears were strong
My fears were true
But where were you?

In a charmed life he sits
Watching her and loving her
His love was brave
His love was strong
His love was true
That’s all I knew
