Sandy

Written by: Sherene Jervis

A nation waits,
frantically preparing for the inevitable.
She threatens, and many are frightened.
Knowing all to well, the possible outcome.

A nation waits,
Jamaicans, shopping up a storm.
Drain-cleaning exercise underway,
Evacuations taking place.

A nation waits,
as the skies open and the rains begin to come.
The threat of damaged properties,
and there is the threat of life.

A nation waits,
for hope she might turn away, but
Tropical Storm Sandy draws near
The path is certain, the island is in her sight

The nation waits,
The breeze tears through the trees,
The nation waits with bated breath
As Tropical storm Sandy may become a hurricane.
