Romance

Written by: Owen Yeates

Is it me or are you afraid of romance
In the same way that I am afraid to dance
For when romantic I try hard to be
You change the subject it seems to me

Is it that you find it so hard?
Our do my words not flow like the words of the bard
Is it my romantic side that makes you backward retreat?
For I can’t hide the romantic side under a seat

You are so elegant and good looking
All my love and romance with you I am booking
All the words I speak are to compliment
Not to get my leg over, just terms of endearment

Of the Beautiful Lady I love and behold
The loving romanticness is sent to and told
I want you to now how I feel in my heart
Without you changing the subject right from the start

So let me show you romance don’t push me aside
Do not change the subject or from my eyes hide
The feelings that this man would like to show you
His wife, friend, and lover oh so true

Though I know the rejections and hurt in your past
I know romance and loving between us will last
If not are we destined to be on our own
Which for me would be hard as so close we have grown

So do not change the subject let the romance flow
As it warms my heart and leaves a great afterglow
Lighten up and remember who loves you the most
Just your husband not father or from the past a ghost
