Solitude II

Written by: Asante Indira

There has to be somewhere more familiar
somewhere I can lay
Some cave in the arm that I find safe
When I laugh I want to show my whole teeth
Let out the sounds of the whole me

I'll eat this meal here, you'll wipe the grease
Play with hide and fur, it's teasing
Find my own scent in your hair pleasing
I see clothes that I've known on your body

And this is us in grass, dirt, smell fresh after rain
---musk that can save
Now you can teach me why I should speak of
all the things I've tucked between my pillow and God

I've been coking meals in hopes of the wrong men
and ate them alone
Keep the burner on and fridge open
I'll soon be home
