The Willow

Written by: monique brandt

Though the lightning comes
Though the thunder roars
The willow still remains.

Though the rain pounds down
Though the wind howls round
The willow stands the pain.

The weather tries to hurt
Tries to bring it down
But never has the luck.

It tries and tries
For the willow’s soul
But from its roots it cannot pluck.

It doesn’t realize
Causing pain
Cannot outlast the fight.

The fight to stay
Rooted in
The ground with all your might.
