War Within

Written by: julie heckman

Tawny yellow scotch, cigarette
smoke thunders in the wars you
know. Slow death, so cool, no
greater courage can arise than
attending wisdom to survive.
We put defeat blow us, as air
struggles to breath... shall we
sore to let courage surround
us or withstand defeat alone.
As we drown at times in
plumed swimming the angels
we shall meet, line after line
of officers with no uniforms
of defeat.
