Winds Over the City

Written by: Matthew Anish

   and one hundred thousand
individuals arise,
   face the sun
and hurry to their respective
           work environments
Their lives are measured in
                                 small spoonfuls
  This morning winds
                        caress the city
cooling down the dwellers there
   We do not care
that our eyes have been
      exposed to the light
Those windows of our souls
        see the reality
        we face
        The fierce winds are blosing
    Leave sorrows to others
Feel the rawness of the day
in the marrow of your bones
I am sure peace will come
   to you
if you hold fast
to your commitments
