For Lack Of A Muse

Written by: Beverly Crespo

If I had no enemies
I could not dream sweet dreams of sweet revenge
Nor contemplate the lesser prize of retribution.
If I had no enemies
I could not laze about in the noonday sun
Awaiting the intervention of Divine Justice.

Most likely, I would be strung out in limbo
Alongside foregiveness and its eerie companion, love.
Then what?

I would have to blow this two-by-four cell
And search for a new source of Inspiration.

What a drag.
