Belief

Written by: Audonus Taylor

My name means nothing,
Nor does my secret belief,
Nor do his or hers or theirs or ours,
For we are all doomed to
romanticizethe infant innocence of
utopian fantasy,
And by this disposition, choose
harrowing disappointment of the
largest sort.
Yet the "why" is the key to such
hope.

Belief becomes the light of faith,
And devotion holds the shine of
want, which slips into the darkness of
obsession.
Transforming the idealistic fantasy,
into the line that drives us to
inevitable separation,
Giving nature more power than
purpose.
Feeding selfishness with paranoia,
and starving the lost Atlantis of the
imagined human spirit, until it
becomes a fragile
teardrop shed into a hell flame.

And men lose their minds to
shadows,
And mothers lose their comfort to
survival,
And babies dream of the now
impossible.
Growing to choose, learning to lose,
and striving to be carbon copies of
eyes that used to want what tender
hearts once dreamed.
And hope for complete unity is
abandoned, lost, and forgotten like
nightmares...

Yet we believe and bleed ourselves
dry of reasons to do what would heal
ourselves.
Trashing the stitches as wounds
bleed freely,
Willingly wasting the remedy as we
vomit and groan from the effects of
our own poison.
Blaming life, blaming nature,
blaming all but the fear that leads us
to separated hearts...
And out of all the beliefs, and out of
all ideas,
We cling to differences rather than
come together by the foundation of
truth hidden within the message our
spirits ignore...

"If we do not love each other, we will
never reach our potential, and as a
result, we will ultimately destroy
ourselves."
