The lover no more

Written by: Murray Mahauariki

Logic tells me one thing,
my heart tells me another,
this confuses often,
why am I such a lover.

It's not just women I love,
everyone knows,
anyone has problems,
I am the place they go.

I'd give the shirt off my back,
If I saw you were cold,
this is who I am,
but it really takes it's toll.

I find happiness in there pains,
a way to distract my mind,
I help them with there problems,
so I can forget mine.

I feel guilty if I don't help,
I don't like seeing people struggle,
but it's a hard balancing act,
everything has to be juggled.

There are givers and takers in my life,
the takers need to be shed,
I will be the lover no more,
I need to get that into my head.
