Judas World

Written by: Vincent Procopio

The Recluse sobs quietly
In pity
For we are beyond hope

From the gala ball and powerlunch
He does not feel excluded,
Our emptiness chronic

He came to save us
From ourselves
His gifts remain unopened, neglected

He is riddled
With arrogant spit
And caustic dismissal

Of necktied trolls
And beskirted jackals,
Forsaken false beacons

And yet his song still rings clear
Echoing in our hearts
So faint

Deaf with thick yellow pride
We cannot catch the tune,
Cannot find our way

His arms remain open
Waiting with forgiveness
For you
