My Wish

Written by: Asra Mir

When I’ll be old and sitting in my rocking chair,
I want to be the one sitting next to you.

When I’ll be wrinkly with white hair,
I want to be the one sharing that experience with you.

When I’ll be sitting in front of the fireplace with a book in my hand,
I want you to be the one I read it to.

When I’ll be taking a walk in the park,
I want you to be the one walking alongside me too.

When I’ll be frail and too weak to move,
I want you to be the one to look after me.

When I’ll be lying there, ready to breathe my last,
I want you to be the one to set me free.
