Within a Tree

Written by: Stephan McBride

Every tree was born of a seed
absorbing water from its surroundings
while taking in nutrients
the roots begin to sprout
some dig deep to give support
while some stay close to the surface
in need of abundance
when storms come they are tossed around
For the ones that dig deep
have plentiful even when the surface is in drought
They shall withstand the seasons
Trees are hard to distinguish
in the spring when the leaves begin to sprout
for they blend in with others
For when you see an apple appear
you shall call it an apple tree
And it shall produce apples every day of the week
It can not produce any different fruit
The joy of seeing an apple tree
sprout from another apple tree
is amazing
