Psychedelic Soda

Written by: James Loggins

I walked the streets of San Francisco
It was a hot summer day
When my best girl ended it with me
The moment she left, I went for a long walk

Then a tall dark bearded man came up to me
With what looked like a plastic medicine container
He looked me square in the eye and said:
“I know what you’re going through, dude

Take a swig of this it’s awesome, man
It will make you feel like the Beatles
And make you want to hitch a ride to the corner of Haight and Ashbury.”
So me with my broken heart

I took a sip of this liquid
And then I began to see all the things ahead of me
That I had never seen before
All the other people’s clothes around me

They were the colors of a rainbow
I saw Snoopy’s friend Woodstock perched on the man’s left shoulder
I saw a taxi cab covered with a black and white newspaper paint job
I asked this man: “What is this stuff?”

The man just wore a smirk on his face and said:
“Put it this way; just call it a psychedelic soda, man.”
