Last Thoughts

Last Thoughts

As my weary head lay down on my feathered pillow
I think of what my life has shown.

While my body shakes with fever and my sheets soak up my sweat
I wonder who my life has touched.

During my struggle to taste each rugged breath hoping it’s not my last
I question where my life has led me.

As I fight to live just one more day
I hope I have touched someone’s soul.

While I think, I can feel the tears roll down my cheek
I want to have made a difference.

During my final hours as I pray for the pain to stop
I question my effect to inspire.

Now that it is over,
I need to be remembered.
