Change The Mask

Written by: Trudy Diane Rider

I’m always there, the mask of bravery
	steeling your spine,
fixing a smile on your face
Then suddenly I turn and
I’m the Protector,
	claws slashing
		teeth snarling
Then the Comforter,
	soft and soothing
Then the Sentinel
	stoically keeping guard
with the Brave mask not far,
			...not far
				lingering below the surface
Sometimes you feel
you’ve worn this mask of Bravery
so long it won’t come off,
and you wonder,
Where is the Dreamer?
	The Poet?
		The Child?
			The wild impulsive Spirit?
They’re here...
	Just waiting for you.
Be Brave
 		....change the Mask.
