I Sit With My Guitar

Written by: Keabetswe Molotsi

I sit with my guitar,
strum away my discontent.
The sound of music playing
is the soundtrack of my weeping

I sit with my guitar,
hold it gently like a lover.
Shut my eyes and feel through me
the rhythm of it's singing.

I sit with my guitar
it never wants a thing from me.
Just to keep it close and be
grateful for its company

I sit with my guitar
when my heart is wanting you.
I think of pretty ballads that
I could belt out to you

I sit with my guitar
I don't call its name, but yours.
It won't say a word, bless it
Won't berate me for my wrongs

I sit with my guitar
think it must be jealous cos
when I have it in my arms
all I think about is you.
