The Teacher Reads

Written by: Jon Sledge

The teacher reads,
Her lips, forming words out of erotic movements
Her face, sharing handfuls of emotions
Her words, hypnotizing
Her eyes, racing back in forth,
running up and down each paragraph.

And the teacher reads,
My focus is broken,
Floating gently past the clouds in my head
My eyes wander, loose and drunken with boredom
My mind, indulging in the sweet fantasy of her fruits
Thoughts, the kind that if the preacher found out
He'd "send me back to mother in a cardboard box..."

And the teacher reads,
My surroundings come back to life,
materializing before my eyes
A cold drop of sweat,
rolling down my neck,
brings me back to reality
And there's the bell.
