DOING THE DYING

Doing the dying is the hardest thing
There, we rage about on that battle
ground
With all the enemies in the bearing.

All cardinal points death indeed
surround;
Blood spatt'ring from neck; a fellow's
head fell
There, we rage about on that battle
ground.

Drowning souls downward to the gulf
of hell
With no slightest guilt in the souless
eyes
Blood spatt'ring from neck; a fellow's
head fell.

There I was, a man and monster in ties
Staking lives of enemy or of friend
With no slightest guilt in the souless
eyes.

For me the dying will come at the end
In awe pride will I sleep, for I am done
Stalking lives of enemy or of friend.

The dying is come and my life is gone,
Doing the dying is the hardest thing
In awe pride will I sleep, for I am done
With all the enemies in the bearing.
