A Lover's Query

A Lover's Query

I cannot love thee any more , nor the less
hast thou not thrilled to my night embrace
cried about the sins I faithfully confess
sat in shock at my previous sinner's race?

Nay, fair lady think me not a high fool
a master of deceit that sells my charm
a tormentor in words so very cruel
ruffian that scurries about to cause harm!

My lady, look at me as the cock that crows
that preens in the morn to please the Sun
struts, pleasing your eyes as our love grows
do you speak soft and I come on a run?

Do we not share this secret lover's bond?
Secret nights of which you are so very fond?

Robert, I can't pull of the sonnet for. Not even in a lover's query. It's as if you truly experienced it... Linda

Oh...I love this, Robert. It is so beautiful...I love the old feel to it. Who would be shocked at sins? We are all sinners....One and all! There is grace for us all. Loved this piece. I've thought of you and wondered why you haven't posted something new....

Very nicely done. The imagery is outstanding. The rhyme and meter are almost perfect. Line 12 is 2 syllables longer then the rest but otherwise a very well constructed sonnet.

Shakespeare reborn in a person called Robert. A wonderful written old style sonnet, it is sad, yet beautiful.
