She Was an Elcellent Reader

She stood to read her poem,
we waited . . .

As she began,
words she had strung together
became the strings of the violin
the lilting notes of the flute
twang of the harp
heart throb of the cello
resonance of the drum.

The music of her words
washed over me
like the melody of rainfall
in the fragrance of spring.

I was entranced,
lulled
by the sound
of her words.

Oh, what music,
the words.
