AUTUMN TREES

AUTUMN TREES

like some huge wild beast
this hollow tree, dead limbs spread
two children inside

three wolves in the snow
patiently look up the tree
some nut shells and tracks

hear their wild clucking
three ducks in the snow look up
strewn red berries, tracks

bare trees and lamp posts
this empty, snow covered bench
man with saxophone

branches split skyward
a few yet cling at the top
flock of geese fly south

You are my cup of tea sir. I am awe struck by your poetry. I hope you have books and books of published works. You are an original. That is what I seek in great poetry. Your work sings and paints and speaks and performs. love it. adding to my favs which I will not mention again as I will fav many of yours.

Dear Daver, You caught my attention immediately with the children huddled inside the tree. Great image! Then you had me frightened the wolf might be after the children. Luckily, he stayed outside the tree. Excellent use of imagery to describe the sites of winter, especially the geese flying south. (They never seem to make it this far south.) You called me "Elizabeth" in your last comment. Had to laugh as I do that so often! Hoping MS wins this weekend! ESPN thinks they'll be in playoffs.
