LIFTING THE FOG

Late one summer's eve, humid and hot,
I was driving along at a horse's trot;
Fog rolled in, blurring the road,
Traffic stopped and the heavy load
I had chained behind my tow truck
Nestled on my shoulders, I was stuck,
Going nowhere when an angel of God
Turned into the lane I trod.
Halo in the headlights, luminous wings
Enfolded me just as I braking
Flew through window glass and chrome,
Onward, upward to land on loam,
Going...going...going home.
