Losing Sight

You bring out the worst in me,
I knew it from the start.
Careless slips of the tongue,
as if you had no heart.

I’m walking down a path,
I’ve already hiked previously.
Swearing time and time again,
I’d never lose sight of me.

Yet here I am, once again,
with fears and emotions amok.
Reverting back to same old me,
mentally drained and out of luck.

Does a past-time of abuse,
condone my ignorance?
How can I say I’m healed,
when all I feel is this?

So, the healing process died,
along with my dreams today.
I lost again, the marathon of hope,
now all I can do is pray.
