Candlelight

I wrote this in remembrance,
those strokes of candlelight across the sky,
recall those foregone times,
the rendezvous of youth need not apply.
I know it's not that easy,
but I need you to give me a glimpse into that way;
I live my life by your thread,
I never thought you'd hand me the bouquet.

If time is but an essence,
then why didn't life just paint you that way?
A stroke of hopeless mind,
holds no cards in the game of life today.
Still, I paint you here,
as the candlelight proves dim across the sky;
you'll never go unnoticed,
through your absence you will
make your mark in time.
