interval between years

a passage light
falls kindly in the room,
on my still fertile woman,
she has felt fruit
in her frayed basket
grateful for it.

I hold you tight against her,

your fingers peel away
her dimpled citrus
your forearms of cinnamon
just manage
to cup
a posterior of
milky winter surplus,
I want to interject
an apology for her
your navel aligns
with her lusted down
fervent promises
are made from the innermost
loud enough to muffle out
my uncharitable undertone
making way for
dedicated palms to
travel an accustomed
bumpy route
to rest on
little bean bags
half full
fragrantly familiar,

gone are words such as hard, lean, taut
that was then…
now, for you she is- soft, plentiful and pliable

at every interval
besotted you are still
and vocal.
