Laughing Man, Pain Hidden

Laughing Man, Pain Hidden

A laughing man hid well his pain
our approval he sought to gain
A hope that admiration would pay
force the inner demon far away

Can any judge another man's soul
we can only guess but never know
The mental pains cut ever so deep
 hammers preventing needed sleep

No plea, request or loud outcry
 no note explaining the why
Answer left to be only a guess
misery now gone, soul at rest

A laughing man hid well his pain
so very sad but will happen again

Thanks for all the comments. Severe depression is far more common that many think. Those enduring it usually hide it so very well. I was a victim from age 15(Father's death) to age 22 . Some live on and others do not..

This gave me goosebumps - and yes, I think it does apply to Robin Wiliams..his death, so unfortunate - I thought him to be a gifted, generous man, whose inner life at times must have been a living hell for him... Your poem is nicely written is so appropriate...should be exposed to the public......

This is an excellent poem Robert about a great man. I know that feeling not so long ago I went around laughing with a heart filled with hatred for myself, I can sympathise with the man. Loved your poem, my friend....peter

Robin was one funny dude, and you've penned him well, (I assume it's about R. Williams even tho' one comment down below mentions someone else, but I will still go with my gut on this one)7rated

:( So so sad...you write this with finesse, Robert. It is a lovely piece...it is a sad tragedy. I feel so bad....I know his pain. Thanks for sharing. Hugs
